CAIRO: Getting Started: Logging In, Logging OutCAIRO is a secure system, each user must login to be able to access the functions of Cairo.
Steps1) Start Internet Explorer2) Type in the web address of Cairo 3) Enter your login details On your PC find Internet Explorer and start it. You can double-click the icon on your desktop, or single-click the small "E" icon on the task bar. When Explorer has started you can type in the location of Cairo. For example: "http://nscminman/", press [RETURN]. The Cairo login screen is displayed.
You now need to login. Click on the box next to User ID. Your User ID will have been given to you by the system administrator. Type it in now. Press [TAB] to move to the next field, Password, enter the password you have been given. Notice that the password comes up as **** so others cannot see your password. When you have entered your User ID and Password, press [RETURN]. The CAIRO main menu will now be displayed.
The "remote control" on the left hand side is the menu you can use to access the different Cairo functions. If you move your mouse over the menu items you will see they change colour to indicate you can select them. Move your mouse over the last menu item called "Logout", notice the cursor switches to a hand symbol:
The hand cursor means you can click on the item, whether it is a menu item like this one, or text, or a button. The hand symbol means you can click on it. If you click on "Logout" now you can disconnect from Cairo. The screen returns to the login screen. You need to logout when you have finished working or are going to leave your desk to prevent unauthorised users from gaining access to the system. You can either login straight back in again, leave the screen as it is for logging in later, or you can close down your Internet Explorer window. For now, close down the Explorer window altogether. In the next section I want to show you the easy way of setting up your windows explorer to start Cairo automatically. See also: |
