CAIRO: Setting up Internet Explorer CorrectlySteps:
Start up Internet Explorer IMPORTANT Before you can use any of the advanced functions of Cairo you must set a configuration option in Internet Explorer. From the Explorer menu select Tools, Internet Options. In the displayed dialog, click on the Security tab. You should have this screen:
Click on the Local Intranet globe then click on the Custom Level button at the bottom. This dialog box is displayed:
You need to make the sure the entry marked "Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe" is set to Enabled. Click the circle next to Enabled. Click OK to set this dialog, and click OK again to set the Internet Option dialog. Setting this option is safe, it means that files that are on your local system are allowed to use programs like Microsoft Word - which we will need later on. The next step is to show you how to make Cairo quickly accessible without having to type in the address every time. Wait until the login screen is displayed, but do not login. For one last time, type in the location of Cairo, for example "http://nscminman" and press [RETURN]. From the menu bar at the top of Internet Explorer, select Favourites, Add Favourite. This dialog box is displayed:
Where the current name is you might want to type something shorter, like "CAIRO", click OK when you are ready. You can now select Cairo from your favourites menu bar at any time. Just click on Favourites again and you will see CAIRO has been added to the bottom of the list. Just click on it to call up the login page. But, if you are regular user of Cairo, you may want to set Cairo as your home page - this means that Cairo will always be displayed as soon as you start Internet Explorer. Don't worry, this does not stop you surfing the web, it just means that you have quick access to Cairo. At any time during web surfing you can just click on the Home icon (a little house) and Cairo will be ready for you. With the login screen still displayed, select Tools, Internet Options, this screen is displayed:
Near the top you can see it says Home Page, just below and to the right of it you can see a button marked "Use Current", press this button now. It makes the page you currently have displayed your home page. Click on OK. The dialog box goes away. Now, whenever you start Explorer Cairo will be displayed for you straightaway.
