Microsoft Clipbook - Quick Overview

 

Clipbook Overview

Clipbook is a simple utility that allows you to save and recall many different pages of standard text or graphics. It works with the clipboard (which you have already used for cut and paste). It is simple to use and integrates quickly with any application.

 

Starting Clipbook

Clipbook may not be on your menus or desktop. If this is the case, then select the Start, Run menu option and type "clipbook" and then click OK. This will open the clipbook folder:

To start the clipbook, you need to double click the clipboard.exe icon, which looks like an open clipboard.

he Clipbook viewer has two windows: the Clipboard and the Local Clipbook. The Clipboard shows you the current contents of the clipboard - in other words the last item you cut or copied from a program.

The Local Clipbook shows you previous items you have saved in the clipbook

In brief:

1. To add an item to the clipbook, click on the Local Clipboard window and select Paste (Ctrl-V).

2. To use an item in the clipbook, select the item name, then select Copy (Ctrl-C), the item is automatically added to the clipboard.

 

To store information on a ClipBook page

1 In the document (or folder) containing the information you want to use, copy or cut the information.

2 In ClipBook Viewer, double-click the Local ClipBook icon or click the Local ClipBook window.

3 On the Edit menu, click Paste.

4 Type a name that will help you identify the information later.

 

Tip

You can use the information later by copying the ClipBook page into a document.

 

To use information from a ClipBook page

1 Double-click the Local ClipBook icon or click the Local ClipBook window.

2 Click the page you want.

3 On the Edit menu, click Copy.

4 In the document where you want to place the information, click where you want it to appear.

5 On the Edit menu, click Paste.

 

Removing clipbook entries

1 Double-click the Local ClipBook icon or click the Local ClipBook window.

2 Click the page you want to remvoe.

3 On the Edit menu, click Delete.

 

 

Viewing Clipbook entries

You can view the clipbook as:

Table of contents

Shows the names of all the entries in the clipbook

Thumbnails

Shows a small picture of the the clipbook entries - more useful for graphics than for text.

Full Page

Shows the full detail of the currently selected clipbook entry.

 

 

 

Viewing current clipboard contents

Every time you select to cut or copy any data from an application, whether it is text from Word or a picture from Paint, the clipboard viewer is automatically updated with the current contents.
