The content of the release has been established entirely as a result of user consultations and market trends. It is oriented to delivering both those key enhancements to the existing applications within the suite that have been identified by our users, and new functionality to extend the utility of Uniplex within our customer organisations. The Web enabled terminal emulator is the latest in a line of extensions to the Uniplex suite that brings the integration between the character based central office suite and PC productivity tools. Providing a powerful Windows based terminal emulator through which Uniplex host applications can be accessed from a PC. The emulator supports both Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers and can be configured to allow powerful connectivity regardless of the capabilities of your PC. Updates to Existing Applications
Summary of New Features One of the more exciting features in Version 9.0 is a new Web based terminal emulator. The emulator runs within a standard Web browser (such as MS Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and offers full access to Uniplex on a Unix server over a LAN or the Internet. This feature simplifies the integration of PC's with Uniplex. It will also significantly reduce the costs of purchasing emulation software. The emulator supports all of the functionality one would expect of a top level emulator, together with colour support and mouse controls. The emulator supports all of the "standard" terminal types but also high resolution graphics such as the Tektronics 4010 terminal that will enable better facilities such as the UBS business graphics module that is a part of the UBS v.9.0 suite. To simplify Internet mail connection Uniplex Mail under version 9.0 is MIME enabled. This stands for Multi-purpose Internet Message Extensions (RFC1521)) and is a standard in use worldwide to maintain compatibility across the diverse mailing systems encountered on the Internet.
