
Uniplex V9 - Licencing, Ports and Availability | ||
The upgrade may be for any number of users up to your current licence limit. With previous versions of Uniplex it was possible to purchase licences only at specific user breaks ; for example, a 10 user site had to purchase a 16 user licence. With version 9.0, it is necessary to purchase only the upgrade for those 10 users and not for all the 16 licences currently held. If this option is exercised, any licences which are not upgrade will be forfeited and cannot be subsequently upgraded. The upgrade will include licences for Uniplex II Plus and any other modules for which you are currently licensed plus an equivalent number of FREE Advanced Office System licences.. Adding AOS licences as part of the upgrade will give you powerful group communication tools such as electronic mail with internet connection capabilities along with calendaring and scheduling for keeping track of people's time. In addition to this, Uniplex customers will be regarded, by Informix, as Informix users for upgrade purposes. In the past a user of Uniplex approaching Informix to purchase a later version would be looked upon as a new Informix user and charged full price. However a UBS V9.0 user will be able to get an "upgrade price" from Informix if they want to upgrade their database. Ports The usual wide range of ports for V9 are available, including SCO, AIX, ICL, Solaris and many others. Please contact us for details. Version 9.0 Product Contents Uniplex Business Software, version 9.0 consists of the following modules. Uniplex II Plus (BASE) This module is the pre-requisite to all others, except Uniplex Mail and Uniplex Office Suite. Uniplex II Plus contains applications for word processing, spreadsheets, a relational database management system (RDBMS) built around the Informix 5 Standard Engine database, simple document management, high quality business graphics and it also incorporates the new Web Based Terminal Emulator. Uniplex Advanced Office System (AOS) The Advanced Office System is a companion piece to Uniplex II Plus. It provides the groupware tools necessary for team communications such as electronic mail, file manager, calendar and scheduler, card index, personal organiser and report writer. Uniplex Document Access (UDA) This module provides comprehensive document recognition and conversion facilities to support the exchange of information between a community of Uniplex users and the users of other software packages. It also provides extensions to the File Manager that allow shared workspaces to be defined within the filing system and to support networked file systems. Uniplex Office Suite Uniplex Office Suite is a complete integrated suite of all the productivity, communications and information sharing applications essential to businesses across all industries. This highly competitive package composed of Uniplex II Plus, Advanced Office System and Uniplex Document Access, all for a very competitive price. Uniplex Mail This product is a full-service MIME enabled electronic mail system for UNIX that also includes calendaring and scheduling capabilities. Over one million users use Uniplex Mail worldwide. Uniplex Mail supports the WordPerfect or Uniplex word processors for generating and browsing messages. Uniplex Mail can be purchased stand-alone or with the Uniplex Word Processor, which becomes a full featured mail editor.
